AMS has an Idling Reduction Committee that promotes idling reduction through data collection and public education. BVLD Woodsmoke Health Study

Twenty residents from Smithers and Telkwa are participating in a three year study beginning December 2007. The Woodstove Exchange STudy (WEST) is a series of linked projects to assess the impacts of the stove exchange program in the BVLD on community air quality and to investigate the potential improvements in health arising from the change to certified wood stoves. Study partners include Simon Fraser University, UNBC, Health Canada, BC Lung Association, BC Ministry of Environment and the BVLD Airshed Management Society. For more information visit the study website by clicking here. This Cool Map Tool shows the stove exchange locations by calendar quarter and make your own maps (you can easily zoom in and out, etc.). At the bottom of the map page there is also a link to display the results in Google Earth. If you click on the location marker you get info on the new stove model. Have fun!
