A science goal identified in the 2012 Community Action Plan for Clean Air was an update of the 2005 micro emissions inventory. That work is now under way. Grants from the BV Social Planning Society and the Town of Smithers have made it possible for us to commission Dr. Judi Krzyzanowski to prepare a scoping study for the inventory proper. That document has been delivered and formed the basis of the next stage, identification of data sources, now complete.
We have been able to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the BV Research Centre to administer funds and deal with contractual details.
We now have MEI phase two and three funding from the clean air team at the Province’s Environmental Protection Division. We’ll still need phase four (wrapup) funding and are waiting to hear from ECCC about that.
